A jury has found the guy accountable for the savage murder of a maid at a Hawaiian holiday property more than five years ago. Stephen Brown was found guilty on Friday of murder, two counts of kidnapping, and one act of burglary for the death of Telma Boinville in December 2017.
Furthermore, the murder had shaken the peaceful Pupukea neighborhood on the North Shore, and the trial's delays had sparked protests and arrests. According to
Hawaii News Now, the jury found the 28-year-old guilty after deliberating for less than an hour.
Additionally, he is the first of two defendants in Boinville's death to go before a jury. The trial for his girlfriend at the time of the crime, Hailey Dandurand, will follow. She earlier entered a not-guilty plea.

Details about the case
Telma Boinville, a 51-year-old teacher, earned extra cash by cleaning vacation homes on Oahu's North Shore. When she was attacked and killed, her 8-year-old daughter was in the car waiting for her mother. The small girl was then taken hostage, locked inside the house, and cruelly informed that her mother had been killed.
According to
Hawaii News Now, Brown remained emotionless and fixed his gaze forward as the verdict was announced on Friday morning. On Monday, the trial will move on to the sentencing phase. According to the outlet, Brown will likely serve an extended life term without the chance of parole.

Moreover, prosecutors said at the trial that Boinville saw Brown and maybe Dandurand break into the house. According to
Hawaii News Now, Brown tied her up and used a machete and other weapons to kill her. The outlet reported that Brown testified that he went to monitor the property and claimed to have returned to find his then-20-year-old girlfriend had slain Boinville.

What's more
According to reports, during the closing argument, Brown's court-appointed counsel, William Bagasol, told the jury that he was guilty of breaking into the rental and kidnapping Boinville and her daughter but not of the homicide.
But, according to Deputy Prosecutor Scott Bell, Stephen Brown was the sole defendant with the physical ability to detain Boinville, who also said that he admitted to her daughter that the pair had slain her mother, according to reports.
Lastly, the trial for Hailey Dandurand will start in July.
