AMD's debut of the Ryzen 7 5800X3D processor has been a success. By an astounding margin,
AMD Ryzen 7 5800X3D has outperformed Mindfactory's scraped weekly CPU sales statistics. Even though the figures come from a single shop, they do provide a general picture of the market. Raptor Lake components have been more successful than Zen 4 chips, whose sales have likely been hampered by the latter's requirement for an AM5 motherboard.
TechEpiphany has once more published sales information obtained from the German computer gear reseller Mindfactory. Given their well-known attraction for desktop PC builders, AMD parts have naturally long been particularly well-liked with this store. In this specific table (see below), there are even a few Raptor Lake chips with over 100 unit sales each: the Intel Core i7-13700K with 130 and the Intel Core i5-13600K with 120. However, Intel has managed to make a few incursions into the highest echelons of the sales data chart. However, six Ryzen CPUs are at the top of the list. and nothing from Zen 4 is included.
With 1,400 unit sales, the powerful Ryzen 7 5800X3D, which AMD continues to call the fastest PC gaming CPU in the world, reigns supreme. When you consider that the non-3D version of the winning chip sold 380 units, it's a considerable sum. While the Alder Lake Core i5-12400F was the second-highest-selling Intel component, the ever-popular Ryzen 5 5600 managed to sell 270 units (130). It would be far too simplistic to say that Zen 4 and Raptor Lake CPUs were "flops" in this case; there are usually a variety of factors at play when one particular chip looks to outperform (and outsell) all the others.
The Ryzen 7 7700X, which sold a rather meager 70 units, is the best-selling Ryzen 7000 processor on this list, while the powerful Ryzen 9 7950X barely managed 40 sales. Due to its incredible power, the excellent i9-13900K, which is missing but supposedly out of stock, is nevertheless expected to become a favorite with many DIY builders. A new Ryzen 7000 processor requires an AM5-compatible motherboard, which may have turned off some potential buyers. It also appears that the price of the powerful Ryzen 7 5800X3D has been significantly reduced in response to the Raptor Lake threat. However, Zen 4 is far from being forgotten as there will undoubtedly be a ruckus when Ryzen 7000 X3D components start to debut.
