The new 14-inch MacBook Pro has been disassembled by iFixit. While the new MacBook Pro 14 looks identical to its predecessor, there have been significant internal modifications, including the use of a smaller heatsink, as discovered by iFixit. We talked about how this year's MacBook Pro 14 comes with slower 512 GB SSDs a few days ago. Despite the lack of external modifications, it turns out that Apple has also made some internal adjustments that are not listed on its website. In particular, Apple gives M2 Pro models smaller heatsinks than M1 Pro models. Theoretically, this adjustment shouldn't cause any problems, especially in light of the M2 Pro's two extra efficiency cores compared to its predecessor. When using the CPU and GPU of the SoC at the same time, the new model operates a little bit hotter. too. The most recent 14-inch MacBook Pro receives a 5-out-of-10 rating from iFixit for repairability.
