Recent news stories have focused on Tesla's 2016 video showcasing the self-driving technology built inside the vehicle, with a senior Autopilot engineer stating that the video was phony. This was stated under testimony by Ashok Elluswamy, director of the Autopilot software at Tesla, in 2018 during the trial against the company over the death of an Apple engineer caused by one of its electric cars. The Autopilot engineer added that the business altered some scenes in the movie to give the impression that the EV is capable of using the automated driving functions on the road when, in fact, it is not yet ready. According to the trial against Tesla's technology, which caused the accident, the Autopilot engineer and executive made this claim under oath. It had a deadly outcome, with Apple's engineer Walter Huang meeting his end in a Tesla EV following a terrible collision. It showed a human seated inside the car in the driver's seat, but they were not interfering with the software's motions. The nearly four-minute video clip, which features "Paint it Black" by the Rolling Stones playing in the background, is a sped-up account of the person's complete journey. The director of Autopilot software said that the business had faked it, but he omitted to explain why. Elon Musk also published it as a crucial piece of Tesla's advertising for the self-driving capabilities of its cars. For the time being, the most recent version number is v10.69, and it primarily centers on the tech CEO's fondness of the number as a meme and updates for this particular version. Its completely autonomous driving function, known as the FSD, asserts that it is capable of taking on routine human jobs and driving situations, even the more difficult ones like making unsafe left turns or crossing junctions. However, a string of Tesla crashes that occurred in the second half of 2022 indicates a variety of faults, including the Autopilot, FSD, Phantom Braking, and more. The NHTSA and other organizations are looking into accidents involving Tesla's electric vehicles, but it is not yet apparent whether the company's self-driving technology is to blame. Now that information about its self-driving technology is out, there are allegations that Tesla has not exactly been upfront with the public about its achievements in autonomous driving.
