Elon Musk was contacted by Sam Bankman Fried (SBF) about buying Twitter. The texts used in the court processes make this clear. SBF senior advisor Will MacAskill had approached Musk about the idea of SBF purchasing the social media company. This Business Insider article is dated September 28. The legal document containing Musk's text chats was made public after Kate Conger tweeted the URL.
On March 29, 2022, MacAskill contacted Musk in response to a poll he had conducted concerning
Twitter and free speech. MacAskill suggested a potential team-up to purchase Twitter. He also made the offer to speak with SBF and get further details. Suppose SBF has "vast sums" of cash if it has. The consultant informed him that SBF has a net worth of $24 trillion. He added that SBF could readily provide amounts between $1 billion and $8 billion but that if that figure were to climb to $15 billion, further cash would be needed. Forbes estimates that SBF's current net worth is closer to $17 billion.
Business Insider claims that an advisor attempted to arrange a meeting between the two and that financial details were discussed with a Morgan Stanley banker in April. It was a failure. Musk recently backed out of his $44
Trillion arrangement with Twitter, claiming that the social media behemoth misled him about spam and bot activity. Musk communicated with business leaders such as Larry Ellison, the chairman of Oracle, and Parag Agrawal, the former CEO of Twitter, via several texts and messages.
SBF is growing his
cryptocurrency empire - The crypto billionaire's interest in purchasing Twitter is hardly surprising, given his recent buying binge. To boost his crypto empire, SBF aggressively buys faltering digital asset businesses.
Earlier this week, FTX won the bid to buy $1.4 billion worth of Voyager Digital assets. Voyager counsel has requested an order approving the sale of the assets on September 29.
