The console will cost $599 USD and come with 16 GB of LPDDR5 RAM and 256 GB of storage. On May 11, the ROG Ally will be formally unveiled, according to Asus. However, numerous leaks—including the cost of its top-spec model—have all but destroyed Asus' surprise. The console's release date (June 13) was also visible in the stolen Best Buy screenshot, as pointed out by an alert Notebookcheck commenter (H/T Joe). Now, a reputable leaker has disclosed the price of the AMD Ryzen Z1 model. It will include a 16 GB LPDDR memory module and a 256 GB NVMe SSD. The latter provides only half of what its more expensive variant (512 GB) delivers. It will be interesting to see if Asus follows Valve's lead in allowing customers to upgrade their storage. The lower-end version of the Asus ROG Ally doesn't appear as alluring, even though its higher-end counterpart could actually threaten the Steam Deck. As was already mentioned, there is no need to laugh at the performance gap between the Ryzen Z1 and Ryzen Z1 Extreme. In order to make its flagship model look better, Asus appears to be adopting the industry-wide habit of offering one unimpressive SKU alongside it. Today, there are many options from lesser-known brands, like AOKZOE, that provide the same hardware for a reasonable price. However, Asus has the benefit of a significantly superior supply chain, marketing budget, and brand value. That ought to aid in its market share growth, particularly in the numerous locations where the Steam Deck is not formally distributed.
