A man is now being charged with murder after the Las Vegas Metropolitan Police Department released a new report describing how he allegedly carried out the murder of a man whose dismembered body was discovered in a barrel in November. According to the Las Vegas Review-Journal, Ryan Bentley, 43, has been charged with murder and conspiracy to commit murder in relation to the death of Rene Olmos Enriquez Jr., 39.
Additionally, according to a report from the Las Vegas Metropolitan Police, Enriquez’s body had been discovered in a barrel on November 29 in the area of Palm Street and East Quail Avenue in Las Vegas. He had gone missing on November 3rd. Bentley was quickly identified as a suspect and was apprehended on the same day as the murder.
According to reports, a second person was also detained and charged with murder. However, the allegations have since been dismissed.
Furthermore, according to the most recent police report, the prosecution claims that Bentley killed Enriquez because he thought the man had “snitched” to the police about him in regard to drugs. According to reports, police allegedly searched Enriquez’s home and found 115 grams of methamphetamine, 18.6 grams of heroin, and 50.2 grams of fentanyl. But because it was found that Enriquez was “heavily under the influence of drugs,” which raised suspicion in Bentley, the report said that he was not detained.
More details
According to the police report, on October 27, Ryan Bentley used a “care package” to get Rene Olmos Enriquez Jr. to his house. When Enriquez got there, Bentley gave him the choice to either be killed or commit suicide by fentanyl overdose.
According to the report, Enriquez chose the latter choice and collapsed. Then he allegedly tried to flee through the garage after waking up, but Bentley fatally shot him.
Moreover, on October 28, authorities were notified about gunshots heard near Bentley’s house. According to reports, Bentley attempted to flee the scene but was apprehended for drug offenses when he went back to his house to get a laptop. According to the police investigation, they think that when Bentley was released from custody, he went back home to dismember Enriquez’s body and conceal it in a 55-gallon barrel.
On another note, Bentley is due in court for his arraignment on January 26. However, it is unknown if he has hired a lawyer to speak for him.
