The ROG Ally from ASUS is yet another rival to Steam Deck.

After announcing its handheld, the ROG Ally, on April 1st, which raised doubts (people, don't launch actual products on April Fools' Day). ASUS has now confirmed this. The system will employ an exclusive AMD Ryzen CPU and run Windows 11, despite the company's lack of additional information. Even an external GPU can be plugged in. The ROG Ally, according to YouTuber Dave 2D, features a 7-inch touchscreen, but it boasts a 16:9 aspect ratio 1080p display and a 120Hz refresh rate, as opposed to the Steam Deck's 16:10 panel, which only manages 800p and 60Hz. Despite this, ASUS' handheld is smaller, lighter, and more slender than Valve's device. The impact of that screen on battery life is unclear. But, there are potential benefits that might be very great, as ASUS' early marketing shows. The Ally potentially can run nearly any game that its hardware is capable of, in contrast to the Steam Deck, which is officially restricted to running games in your Steam library (and only several, at that). Also, ASUS is a well-known company, so you'll probably have a better time finding Ally even though companies like Ayaneo and GPD are very small.
