Sato was the head engineer of the Lexus LC prior to succeeding Toyoda as Toyota's new president. As his final duty before switching to Toyota, he was successful in finishing the LFAII. This indicates that Sato has a great affinity for sports cars. He wants to design and create a new Celica as his first endeavor as a result. The new Toyota president was quoted by Best Car as saying, "If I were to start now, it would be a BEV sports coupe, and a modernized updated design with the image of the Celica of yesteryear would be the most powerful."
