The Korean startup recently introduced a companion robot cat that utilizes artificial intelligence (AI). This cat robot, known as Maicat, is designed to provide personalized experiences for users right out of the box.
Maicat serves as a social robot for individuals who are unable to have a pet due to various reasons such as a busy lifestyle, limited space, health concerns, or the desire to have a trial pet before committing to a real one.
This interactive and adorable companion is an intelligent robotic animal equipped with OLED eyes, 20 actuators, a camera, microphone, a speaker, and nine sensors. These features allow Maicat to analyze its surroundings and communicate with its owner. The device has Bluetooth and WiFi connectivity and is accompanied by a dedicated app.

Constructed using a combination of ABS, glass, and silicone, Maicat weighs 1 kg (2.2 lb) and measures 20 cm (7.8") in length, 13 cm (5.1") in width, and 20 cm (7.8") in height. While the capacity of the cat's lithium battery is not specified, Macroact highlights that Maicat is capable of self-charging.
Maicat exhibits authentic feline behavior, heavily influenced by its environment. It accurately replicates the movements of real cats with 99 percent joint accuracy, allowing it to stretch, walk, and move like a genuine feline. Users can enjoy the companionship of a cat without the hassle of pet hair or the need to frequently change litter boxes.

The robot cat responds to interactions by meowing, purring, playing, seeking attention, displaying curiosity, or showing affection.
