The confirmation that TikTok is the subject of numerous inquiries into its data practices has been made public by the EU President and the EU Executive Branch. According to the investigation, the commission is concerned about the transfer of EU citizens' data to China and the targeting of adverts at children. The European Union Executive Branch and European Commission President Ursula von der Leyden have stated that Tiktok is the subject of numerous investigations. According to a report, the question is if the corporation has been giving Chinese officials access to data belonging to EU nationals. This action was taken in response to the worries expressed by the European Parliament over possible data access. The EU kept looking into the allegations that TikTok employees were monitoring locations for Bytedance even after TikTok refuted them. The commission is looking at the application's targeted ads for children in addition to data tracking. In a letter, Von der Leyden stated, "This includes litigation before the Dutch courts (in particular concerning targeted advertising involving minors and data transfers to China) and an investigation by the Irish Data Protection Commission about TikTok's compliance with several GDPR requirements, including as regards data transfers to China and the processing of data of minors." Using TikTok for self-diagnosis could be dangerous, warns experts Brendan Carr, the commissioner for federal communications, tweeted the European Commission's confirmation, which follows inquiries made in August of last year. The top Republican commissioner previously opined that TikTok ought to be outlawed in the US and pushed Google and Apple to remove it from their respective app stores. Gearrice claims that this was not the first time the European authorities had looked into TikTok. An EU lawsuit from earlier this year claimed that the site violated consumer protection laws in the aforementioned jurisdiction.
