The feature requires users to take a short video of themselves, which will then be verified by Tinder's AI technology to confirm that the user's appearance matches their profile photos.

Enhanced Security Measures

In recent years, online dating has become increasingly popular, but it has also given rise to concerns about users creating fake profiles and misrepresenting themselves. To address this issue, Tinder has introduced several security measures, including requiring users to verify their phone number and email address, and using AI to detect and remove potentially fake profiles. The new Video Selfie Verification feature takes this a step further, providing an additional layer of security by verifying a user's appearance in real-time. This helps to prevent users from using photos that are not their own or misleading.

How it Works

To use Video Selfie Verification, users will need to open the app and navigate to the profile tab. From there, they will be prompted to take a short video of themselves, which should be around 2-3 seconds long. The video will be compared to the user's profile photos using AI technology to ensure that they match. Once the verification process is complete, users will receive a blue checkmark on their profile to indicate that they have been verified. The feature is currently available in select markets, but Tinder plans to roll it out globally in the coming weeks. User Privacy

Tinder has reassured users that their privacy will be protected throughout the Video Selfie Verification process. The video will not be shared with other users or third parties, and it will be deleted once the verification is complete. In addition, users will be given the option to turn off the feature at any time. With its commitment to user safety and privacy, Tinder is setting a new standard for online dating apps.
