As the year 2022 comes to a close, we learn more about Apple's next-generation products, which are expected to arrive in 2023. According to a new report, Taiwan Semiconductor Manufacturing Company (TSMC), one of Apple's largest partners, will hold an event in the coming days to celebrate the onset of commercial production of 3nm chips at its manufacturing site. This is significant because it marks the beginning of the company's development of a new 3nm process, a technology on which Apple has never previously relied. The news broke to us from DIGITIMES Asia via MacRumors, and it's not entirely surprising given that we've been hearing rumors and reports about Apple's collaboration with TSMC to create a new 3nm process for a while now. time. At this time, it is unknown what devices will use the new chip, but it will likely appear in Apple's forthcoming iPhone Pro model, which is expected to arrive at the end of next year. It is also possible that it will appear in some of its computing products. TSMC 3nm chips TSMC has recently expanded its presence in the United States, with plans to build two new factories in Arizona. Apple CEO Tim Cook talked about new factories and how the two companies would collaborate to begin manufacturing chips in the United States earlier this month. The two Arizona facilities will also be able to produce 3nm and 4nm chips. However, neither TSMC nor Apple has specified what products will use the chips. According to a report, Apple intended to improve the chip's GPU, but discovered that it drew too much power, causing it to run hotter, which was deemed unfair and scrapped. Hopefully, Apple won't run into similar issues with its upcoming 3nm chips, as this year could be a big year for iPhones, thanks to the reported switch to USB-C ports.
