Both Ryzen Z1 APUs will include Zen 4 CPU cores and be available with 4 or 12 Compute Units based on the RDNA 3 architecture. They should be able to support native 1080p gameplay in contemporary triple-A titles. The Ryzen Z1 series, which AMD has created for gaming handhelds, has just been released. AMD launched the Ryzen Z1 and Ryzen Z1 Extreme, information about which first surfaced on Geekbench earlier this month. For comparison, the Ryzen Z1 series uses iGPUs built on the RDNA 3 platform and the Zen 4 architecture. In other words, the Radeon 760M has twice as many CUs as the Ryzen Z1. The Ryzen Z1 Extreme, on the other hand, is comparable to the Ryzen 7 7840U in that it has 8 CPU cores and 12 CUs. Actually, AMD merely points up "customized power and voltage curves, among other differences" as a difference between the Ryzen Z1 series and its Ryzen 7000 equivalents. AMD asserts that the Ryzen Z1 produces up to 2.8 TFLOPs (FP32), with the Ryzen Z1 Extreme reaching a maximum of 8.6 TFLOPs (FP32). In contrast, the Steam Deck offers 1.6 TFLOPs, which is four times the performance of the Nintendo Switch. However, the Ryzen Z1 or Ryzen Z1 Extreme might not be able to achieve these ideal performance levels due to cooling and TDP restrictions. Also Read: The performance of AMD’s future mobile APUs has significantly improved, according to online leaks AMD claims that both Z1 series APUs can run triple-A games natively at 1080p, albeit with modest graphics settings, as shown in the embedded photos below. Red Dead Redemption 2's RSR upscaling from 720p is said to enable even the Ryzen Z1 to average more than 40 frames per second. The average frame rates listed below, according to AMD, were attained with a 30 W TDP, the company said in a statement to The Verge. In the ROG Ally, a round-up of which we published yesterday, the Ryzen Z1 series will make its debut. ASUS has already revealed additional information, including the debut date.
