US Urges South Korea Not to Fill China Shortfalls if Beijing Bans Micron Chips: Report (Image credit- News18)

When China forbids Micron from selling chips in the market, the United States ordered South Korea to tell its chipmakers not to fill any gaps in the market. In order to mobilize its supporters against Chinese economic pressure, this is being done. According to the reports, the White House has asked its chipmakers to avoid filling any market voids if China bans Idaho-based business Micron from selling chips in the market as South Korean President Yoon Suk-Yeol gets ready to fly to Washington for a state visit. One of the three key companies in the market for RAM memory chips is Micron. Two other businesses, Samsung Electronics, and SK Hynix, were among those that Washington urged to refrain from increasing their sales to China. Since 2011, when the alliance between the two countries celebrated its 70th anniversary, a South Korean leader has not paid a state visit to the US. Officials from the two nations are wrapping up their meeting to continue talking about a variety of topics, including the guarantee of "extended deterrence," as tensions between North Korea and the peninsula rise. His stance, in contrast to that of his left-leaning predecessor Moon Jae-In, has sparked a strong response from the Chinese government, which accuses it of trying to alter the status quo with regard to Taiwan. His endeavor, according to Reuters, comes after China reviewed Micro's national security following its introduction this month. The Cyberspace Administration of China may or may not act following this investigation, but the stakes are already high for Micron given that China and Hong Kong accounted for 25% of its $30.8 billion in revenue last year. Micron defended its business practices as being regular and said that it has been working with the Chinese government. According to US government representatives and other industry leaders, CAC's investigation is China's response to recently enacted limits that US President Joe Biden has taken to prohibit the country from manufacturing advanced semiconductors. According to the South China Morning Post, Yangtse Memory Technologies, a rival of Micron, is one of the largest chip companies that China has blacklisted. "We expect the upcoming state visit to even further strengthen cooperation on all these fronts," the agency said.
