The opening keynote address was given by Verizon executives at Mobile World Congress Las Vegas, the most important connectivity event in North America. They announced new partners, products, and customer offers. The announcement of the first 5G gaming portable with Qualcomm and Razer, which will be fully unveiled on October 15 at RazerCon, caught everyone's attention. At the MWC in Las Vegas, the carrier gave a brief overview of the device, which will be known as the Razer Edge 5G. They stated that it will run Android and provide access to cloud gaming services like Xbox Cloud Gaming. But it does look like it will be able to play games stored locally on the device as well, unlike gadgets like Logitech's recently unveiled G Cloud. There have been rumors of a device resembling this one before: Qualcomm's Snapdragon G3x Handheld Gaming Developer Kit, though information is scant. The G3x platform, which will be used by Verizon and Razer's handheld, was intended to be demonstrated by that device, which was unveiled toward the end of last year. Qualcomm claims that the G3x chipset's GPU can run games at up to 144 frames per second and supports external monitors up to 4K. The teaser video gives the impression that the Edge 5G would have an adjustable trigger system. It has a similar design to the company's Kishi V2 controller, but the computer and screen are integrated rather than having a slot for a phone.
