Wear OS 2 watches [U] no longer support Google Maps and Keep

Google has recently released a Material You redesign and tile for Keep on Wear OS. Google Keep appears to have removed support for older Wear OS 2 devices around that time.
Update 11/25: Google Maps is yet another popular app that "does not work on your device" if it is running Wear OS 2/Android 9. This is more of an issue for owners who reset their watches, as existing downloads continue to work.
These older devices also did not receive the new Google Home or Contacts, and the updated Assistant, Phone, and Weather are only available on Wear OS 3.
When searching for Google Keep in the Play Store, the app does not appear on a Wear OS 2 watch. It is unclear when support was withdrawn, but it could have happened to coincide with the Material You redesign. The Apple Watch app has not been updated and continues to use the pre-Google Workspace icon.
Users of Wear OS 2 who already have Keep installed should be unaffected, but app availability/support should be taken into account when resetting a wearable in the future. Google, Gboard, Fit, Wallet, Messages, Camera, Clock, Wear OS by Google Smartwatch, and YouTube Music remain accessible. While there are many more Wear OS 3 devices than before, the number of active Wear OS 2 users is likely to be substantial.
