Man-Thing will become a part of the Marvel Cinematic Universe later this week when Werewolf in the Night, the studio's first Christmas special, takes place. Despite being marketed as an exclusive presentation, the Michael Giacchino-directed special is a part of the MCU. "Man-Thing" ranks among the best works the franchise has ever produced.
Werewolf by Night and Man-Thing are released simultaneously as Marvel Studios' Multiverse Saga is getting going, and Man-Thing is one of the main components of the multiverse.
The Protector of the Nexus of All Realities is Man-Thing. The Man-Thing has spent most of his history as the Nexus of All Realities guardian. It is where each universe or timeline ends and has portals to every other reality. Any reality could be easily traversed, whether it was good or evil.
Even some dated hints suggest that the Marvel Cinematic Universe may someday adapt the setting. Viewers of Thor who have seen Erik Selvig's speech will be familiar with it. The time-traveling, alternate reality. Imagine if you had this as well. Likewise, it addresses similar issues, possibly resulting in the locale's introduction before Man-Thing quickly returns to live action.
It makes sense that the studio would want someone to maintain order or, at the absolute least, help check things over, given the multiverse's expanding importance in everything MCU.
According to the synopsis, after the death of their commander, a secret cabal of monster hunters emerges from the shadows and assembles at the ominous Bloodstone Temple. The summary says: Attendees are forced into a deadly and enigmatic competition for a powerful relic in a peculiar and gruesome memorial to their leader's passing. But unfortunately, they will finally encounter a terrible monster during this hunt.
