The "I'm Feeling Lucky" button on Google skips the results page and all of its contents in favor of the top website listed in the search results. I'm Feeling Lucky still works on Google's desktop homepage and has some amusing easter eggs hidden in it. On the Google homepage since it launched, there has been a "I'm Feeling Lucky" button. However, a lot of individuals are unaware of its purpose or meaning. So what does the "I'm Feeling Lucky" button do?

What is the purpose of the "I'm Feeling Lucky" button?

The idea behind the "I'm Feeling Lucky" button is straightforward. Google delivers you directly to the first webpage among its search results once you type your search query and click the button. You skip over the page of search results that contains ads and other Google features. The ideal situation is that you can reach your desired location with just one click. When you are certain that you will land on the appropriate webpage, this might save you time and be convenient. However, there is a risk involved with clicking the "I'm Feeling Lucky" button and expecting to land on the correct webpage, even though Google has been very good at assisting users in finding what they're looking for. It gets its name from the gamble you make when you press the button: I'm feeling lucky. The famous Clint Eastwood line, "Do you feel lucky, punk?," from the film Dirty Harry is also said to have inspired the name of the button. Do you, then? However, it's simply a rumor, and there is no proof to back it up. Also Read: hiDRIVE- Most Secure External SSD with 2500mb/s speed, upto 8TB storage

Where i can see "I'm Feeling Lucky" Button?

I'm Feeling Lucky The "I'm Feeling Lucky" option will no longer be accessible on mobile versions of Google's website after 2022. It is available immediately below the search bar. However, for easier access, the search autocomplete recommendations move aside as soon as you begin typing a question. Neither the Google applications nor the mobile sites have it. When you access the Google page, however, you can ask for the desktop version of the site in your preferred browser if you want to use it on a mobile device. Similar to that, you may use the "I'm Feeling Lucky" extension to make the "I'm Feeling Lucky" button in the Chrome Omnibox work.

How Often Does "I'm Feeling Lucky" Get Used?

I'm Feeling Lucky The button doesn't appear to be frequently utilized, despite being prominently displayed on the Google homepage. Less than 1% of Google searches follow the "I'm Feeling Lucky" path, according to a 2007 interview with Marissa Mayer by Minnesota Public Radio's Marketplace. Even Google co-founder Sergey Brin admitted to using it infrequently in a conversation with the same article. Because a large portion of Google searches now take place on mobile devices (which wasn't the case in 2007) and because there isn't a "I'm Feeling Lucky" button on mobile devices by default, the search traffic through the button has very likely substantially decreased subsequently. Despite the little usage, the "I'm Feeling Lucky" button must have cost the search engine giant millions of dollars because everybody who uses it skips over the ads, which are Google's main source of revenue. Why does Google still use it, then?

Why Is the "I'm Feeling Lucky" Button Still Available on Google?

I'm Feeling Lucky Google co-founders allegedly did not want the search to become "too dry, too corporate, [and] too much about earning money," according to Mayer in an interview with Marketplace. The button, on the other hand, serves to remind users that Google employees are actual people with personalities. The "I'm Feeling Lucky" button has survived the company's numerous redesigns of the Google search page since its launch in 1998.

I'm Feeling Lucky has Easter eggs.

In all of its products and services, including Google Search, Google is exceptional at hiding easter eggs. And the "I'm Feeling Lucky" button itself contains one of these Easter eggs. I'm Feeling Hungry, I'm Feeling Trendy, or I'm Feeling Generous are some examples of the random phrases that appear when you roll your mouse pointer over the "I'm Feeling Lucky" button. By continually hovering over the mouse pointer, you can uncover nine such "I'm feeling" combinations. Additionally, if you click the button without typing a search term into the search box, you'll be taken to another Google product that is related to the emotion expressed by the "I'm Feeling Lucky" button easter egg. I'm Feeling Hungry, for instance, navigates to Google search results for "ice cream near me." The Google Trends home page is where you'll land if you click "I'm Feeling Trendy." Notably, this easter egg can only be found on the Google homepage in the US.

Google's Gravity Easter Egg: I'm Having a Lucky Day

google gravity There are further in-game secrets connected to the "I'm Feeling..." option besides the easter egg. When the “I’m Feeling Lucky” Became Almost Useless

Interestingly, Google rendered the “I’m Feeling Lucky” option pretty much inconsequential in 2010 when it released Google Instant. I’m Feeling Lucky was still on the search engine’s homepage, but you had to disable Google Instant to access it. Otherwise, as soon as you started typing a search query, Google automatically went into the search results, and you had no chance to click on the button. But to add some value to the button, the business introduced the random sentence easter egg in 2012. And finally, Google Instant was removed in 2017, and the “I’m Feeling Lucky” button restored to its original splendor.
