A picture-in-picture mode for video calls has begun to be supported by Meta, allowing you to use other iPhone apps and still see the person you’re speaking to during a video call.
The update is included in version 23.3.77. You can get this from the App Store. After the updated version is activated, you can simply minimize WhatsApp while you’re on a video call, and a persistent video thumbnail will appear on the screen for you to move around as necessary.
Naturally, Meta will want to keep WhatsApp’s millions of users coming back, which is undoubtedly a contributing factor to the fact that it keeps its software developers so busy. Very few apps receive updates as frequently and in such large numbers as WhatsApp does.
We don’t typically have to wait very long before another update for WhatsApp is released, whether it’s improvements in the number of photos and videos you can post to a chat or the ability to send messages even when the internet is down.
Most of the time, these updates are helpful and thoughtful as well. The most recent update, which allows users to continue a video call while using other apps, is a good example of this.
Meanwhile, are you ready to use the updated WhatsApp? Let’s experience the change.
