WhatsApp has gained popularity in the realm of encrypted messaging applications due to its constant feature additions. However, other messaging apps like Telegram and Discord have an edge over this highly renowned application. Now, WhatsApp is in a bid to minimize that gap with the introduction of Channels. If you are a Telegram user you might have an idea about what purpose does ‘Channels’ feature serve. On the same lines as Telegram, WhatsApp Channels help you follow your favorite content creators, celebrities, and businesses so that you can stay up to date.  With this similar approach WhatsApp Channels are one-way broadcasting tools to stay in touch with a number of subscribers or followers at a time. This feature enables channel admins to immediately disseminate information to as many people as they want at one go. This on-way broadcasting tool has been designed to reach out to a wider audience to keep them updated regarding the brand, product, or information of their choice.
According to information shared by WABetaInfo, WhatsApp CEO Will Cathcart has stated that Channels will be accessible to nearly all users "by the end of tomorrow!"  So the feature is likely to be accessible to everyone by September 19.
The WhatsApp Channels feature has been rolled out worldwide and will be introduced to everyone in the coming weeks. So, if you have not got any update recently, it’s not a matter of concern, the feature will soon be accessible to you. Meanwhile, the feature is accessible to only a handful of organizations and brands to let them create a WhatsApp channel. This feature is dissimilar to the WhatsApp Communities, introduced to the app earlier this year.
