WhatsApp to enable cross-platform messaging to comply with EU regulations

Image credit : Online Tech Tips With a view to complying with the European Union’s Digital Markets Act, Meta (the parent company of Whatsapp) has begun working on third-party chat alternatives that if materialized will let users communicate with different instant messaging platforms including Telegram and Signal. Primarily featured on WABetaInfo WhatsApp beta for Android version 2.23.19.8 has dropped indications for the forthcoming feature. Currently, the feature is not accessible to the users, implying it is under development.  [caption id="attachment_149438" align="aligncenter" width="640"]Whatsapp Image credit : BBC[/caption] With the upcoming feature Meta wants to take advantage of its large base of users in the Europe region thanks to its outstanding features like end-to-end encryption and user-friendly interface.  However, making cross-platform interaction a reality is likely to come up with encryption compromises. Enabling interoperability with third-party messaging platforms is another such requirement.
