Two Missouri children were discovered inside a Winn-Dixie supermarket in Florida, according to investigators, nearly a year after they were kidnapped. According to a post on the Facebook page of the High Springs Police Department, Brooke and Adrian Gilley were found at the store last week with their non-custodial mother, Kristi Nicole Gilley.
Furthermore, Gilley, 36, was found in the grocery store after a regular vehicle tag check revealed that she was a wanted person, according to the police. In addition, the officials revealed that she was apprehended and taken into custody on a kidnapping warrant out of Clay County, Missouri.
According to authorities, the two children have been turned over to the Florida Department of Children and Families Services and will soon be reunited with their birth parents. Additionally, the High Springs Police Department reported that Brooke and Adrian Gilley had previously been missing since the middle of March 2022.
Moreover, according to court documents obtained by PEOPLE, Kristi Nicole Gilley was still in police custody as of Monday morning. Lastly, she previously used William Miller’s legal services, who told PEOPLE that Gilley “has retained private counsel.”
