The current portfolio of electric vehicles (EVs) offered by Tesla is the oldest in the history of automobile manufacturers.
The Elon Musk-owned car company's lineup is one of the oldest in the world, despite the fact that its EVs constantly receive new features via its software updates. It appears that Tesla is introducing newer automobiles later than the industry norms
According to
Motor 1 UK's research, which surveyed almost 30 companies from around the globe, Tesla currently has the second-oldest portfolio. Tesla is staying with its current lineup as other automakers are flooding the market with newer EVs, including all-electric crossovers and pickup trucks.
For its current all-electric car lineup, the Musk-led EV manufacturer achieved an average lifespan of 7.8 years. The massive company today boasts four electric vehicles, one of which initially caught the attention of the public in 2009.
According to Motor 1, the Model S car made its premiere in March 2009. When the Model X crossover was released in September 2015, the EV manufacturer unveiled its second electric vehicle.
And
Tesla added the Model 3 vehicle to its line-up of EVs in 2016. The Model Y, which made its debut in March of last year, is the newest addition.
A new article by
Inside EVs claims that the Musk-owned company debuted its most recent model about four years ago.
The industry standard for introducing new-generation vehicles is between six and eight years, according to Inside EV's analysis. Tesla, though, appears to be going against the grain.
However, the introduction of the Cybertruck could materially alter its standing.
