Xiaomi's Mi Band 8 ditches the iconic single strap for two-piece strap

Previous technology has performed admirably thanks to its straightforward approach and high value. The business recently unveiled the Mi Band 8 with the launch of the Xiaomi 13 Ultra in China and is looking to expand on this success.

Design

With one significant exception, the Xiaomi Mi Band 8 mostly adheres to the same visual aesthetic as its predecessor. The 1.62-inch AMOLED display with an always-on display, the sensors, and the battery are housed in the same capsule as before. This year, the strap and strap connection have changed. Previous Mi Bands came with a single strap that could hold the tracker capsule. With the Mi Band 8, Xiaomi is switching to a more streamlined strap design that calls for attaching a two-piece strap to each end of the capsule similarly to how you would attach the band to an Apple Watch. The Mi Band 8 is now compatible with some intriguing new bands and pegs thanks to the slimmer strap design. Additionally, Xiaomi is showcasing bands that enable pendant-style donning of the fitness tracker capsule. Key Features

The Mi Band 8 and Mi Band 7 are remarkably identical, save from the housing change. You can select from more than 150 sports modes when working out. The fitness tracker keeps features like continuous heart rate monitoring, blood oxygen monitoring, stress, sleep, steps, and calorie tracking, and also provides in-depth VO2 max professional workout analysis. Additionally, Xiaomi has included a few watch faces that function as puzzle games. The Mi Band 8 also has a voice assistant and is available in a version with NFC in China. Keep take mind that Xiaomi typically omits certain functions from the foreign model. For another generation, the fitness tracker will only offer connected GPS, so if you were hoping for onboard GPS, your search is over. Price

The Xiaomi Mi Band 8 is now available in China for 239 Chinese Yuan (about $34) for the standard model and 279 Chinese Yuan (approximately $40) for the NFC model. There is currently no information available regarding a global launch or a Mi Band 8 Pro.
