You need to scan your iris with the Apple AR/VR headset to use it

Apple future augmented and virtual reality headgear were revealed in a recent post in The Information. The report describes aspects that make Apple's headset apart from Meta's recently unveiled Quest Pro, which is perhaps the largest rival to Apple's product. The Information's post claims that the headset would resemble a pair of ski goggles, which is in line with earlier reports. It will be lighter and thinner than the Quest Pro, and made of "mesh textiles, metal, and glass." The sources used by The Information did not provide a weight, however the Quest Pro weighs 722 grammes. You need to scan your iris with the Apple AR/VR headset to use it A user may be recognised and immediately enter into their separate accounts using the new headset thanks to a scan of their irises. It would be simple to pass the headset from one person to another using this capability, which supports multiple users. The iris-scanning technology will also be used to verify payments. Iris scanning won't be available with the Meta headset. Or to put it another way, it will be the headset's version of Face ID or Touch ID, the biometric authentication technologies formerly found on the iPhone, iPad, and Mac. Additionally, the headset will accommodate users who wear glasses. "Magnetically clip on prescription lenses inside the headset" will be an option for them. The Apple headset will scan its wearer in other ways as well. The device will reportedly include 14 cameras, as was previously rumored. Two, according to today's article, will scan the wearer's legs so that a virtual avatar can properly represent the wearer's leg postures. Although floating torsos and faces without legs are typical in 3D telepresence apps, it appears Apple may be trying to break away from that norm. Apple and Meta are about to engage in a conflict over the mixed-reality market. Although Apple has a stronger background in augmented reality (AR) due to the sensors and developer support on its iPhones and iPads, Meta has been in the VR business for seven years. And while Meta has a big advantage in terms of software for immersive VR, it lacks Apple's level of expertise when it comes to creating hardware. On October 11, Meta's Quest Pro made its debut. Starting on October 25, it will be sold for $1,499.99. After several setbacks, Apple's headset is now expected to ship in 2023 at a higher cost.
