With the rise of AI music there has been confusion over giving the credit.  If most of the credit should be given to the AI's developer, the data used to train the model, or the one who created the original music. To address the issue of AI in music, YouTube has come up with a new partnership and set principles including monetization opportunities for both companies and AI music creators. YouTube CEO Neal Mohan released a blog post declaring its strategic partnership with prominent players in the music landscape to gauge the possibilities of AI integration to the music industry. The tech giant focuses on three elements : Integrating AI with musical collaborators, striking a balance between protection and creativity, and putting trust and security first. “Generative AI systems may amplify current challenges like trademark and copyright abuse, misinformation, spam, and more,” YouTube CEO Neal Mohan said. “But AI can also be used to identify this sort of content, and we’ll continue to invest in the AI-powered technology that helps us protect our community of viewers, creators, artists and songwriters.” [caption id="attachment_191389" align="aligncenter" width="1200"]YTM_logo Image credit : YouTube[/caption] Despite the limited information provided in the blog post, it is evident that YouTube is gearing up to fully embrace artificial intelligence in its initial efforts. YouTube has launched the Music AI Incubator initiative within this endeavor, in partnership with several collaborators such as Universal Music Group and its pool of artists. It seems that YouTube aims to engage with the music industry to jointly explore generative AI initiatives. The second principle highlights that AI is giving way to a new era of creative expression, but it must also provide proper protections and opportunities for music partners, the blogpost said. By consistently balancing the needs of copyright holders and the creative community, YouTube has a proven track record of protecting the artistic creations of artists on its platform. The video platform has  shed light on policies, trust and safety teams, and these measures are now being extended to AI-generated content in order to protect its community. YouTube is dedicated to using AI-powered technology to identify and address such concerns, assuring the safety of its viewers, creators, artists, and songwriters, even though AI systems may give push to issues like trademark and copyright abuse, misinformation, and spam. He laid a strong focus on the necessity of developing efficient tools, incentives, and rewards that maximize AI's positive potential while reducing any potential adverse effects. Grainge is of the vision that with the appropriate balance, AI may significantly expand the horizon of human imagination and enhance musical creativity. “Central to our collective vision is taking steps to build a safe, responsible, and profitable ecosystem of music and video — one where artists and songwriters have the ability to maintain their creative integrity, their power to choose, and to be compensated fairly,” said UMG chairman and CEO Lucian Grainge in a separate statement.
