Yes that is correct, the first automatic watch, with the whole dial cut from the same stone used to make STONEHENGE

A world’s first……The HENGE watch from STROND, with the whole dial cut from the same stone used to make the WORLD FAMOUS STONEHENGE
Yes that is correct, we are making the whole dial from the same stone used to make one of the best known “wonders of the ancient world” namely STONEHENGE !.
So now you too can wear a piece of history by owning a timepiece cut from the very same Preseli Bluestone used to make the inner bluestone circle for this magnificent monument, and we shall only be making 450 pieces
The all stainless steel version with bronze Celtic bezel & crown, with chestnut brown leather strap
The Celtic pattern is engraved into the bezel and onto the top of the crown.
Sapphire crystal glass with AR coating both front and back!
The stones that form the inner ring came from the Preseli Mountains in Wales, and are protected by the “Welsh National Park Authority”
Craig Rhos-y-felin is a rocky outcrop on the north side of the Preseli Mountains in Wales, which is designated as a RIGS (Regionally important geological and geomorphological site) site on the basis of its geological and geomorphological interest. It is accepted by some in the archaeological community that it is the site of a quarry, used together with one at Carn Goedog, for gathering stones used at Stonehenge.
The quarry is protected and only a very small amount the of the Preseli Bluestone is allowed to be used, and we are very fortunate to be one of only a small handful of small craft cottage industries to be allowed to use the stone for our STROND timepiece .
It is fitting that we create a timepiece in order to tell the time as Stonehenge was used in part to tell the time for seasons and dates.
Archeologists have now proven that this is one of two sites used for making the inner circle at Stonehenge, and they did so by a kind of rock DNA chemical testing.
Interestingly a huge stone unearthed at this site is thought to have been one of the stones prepared for Stonehenge, but if you look carefully at the above photo, you will notice a crack going across the stone. Archeologists think that in preparing this stone some 4,000 years ago, it cracked and so was abandoned !
The all stainless steel version with antique steel Celtic bezel & crown with black leather strap .
Taken in normal light so that you can see the natural colour of the stone dial. Some PC monitors and other devices may have a different hue or tint to them, so I have uploaded this photo as taken, to best show the dial colour .
Above photo taken on one of the Preseli bluestones at Stonehenge
So this is the real icing on the cake with the dial being made from the same stone from the same place in the Preseli hills of south Wales
The Preseli blue hills in South Wales
You may also notice that even the hands are of the era, with the hour and minute hand being in the form of the type of sword or dagger of the time and the seconds hand being in the form of a Celtic broach pin !
For the bezel and crown we have engraved the Celtic knot, a pattern reminiscent of the Celtic era, who had an influence at a later time in the Stonehenge history.. So what you are getting is not only a great looking dress timepiece, but also, a piece of classic Jewellery, two for the price of one !
The Celtic knot, deep-engraved onto the crown. The bronze rota also has a sundial engraving, considering that STONEHENGE was used as a giant 365 day timepiece, it is fitting that we incorporate this feature to !

Here we have some of the beautiful Preseli Bluestone which is now ours , and all ready to be made into the dials. It is when they are polished that the true beauty comes out !
And when polished you end up with a lovely blueish green stone, ( although the photo does it no justice at all) which is often used in Jewellery here in the UK.
So with our new dress watch, you are getting a beautiful timepiece and a piece of custom made Jewellery at the same time, the best of both worlds ! With a 39mm case and only 11mm high it will also look at home on the wrist of female watch lovers too.
I managed to get the wife (LOL) to model the watch just to show that it will also look great on the wrists of female watch lovers too ! So as the misses said, "it is jewellery making meets watch making !
The movement we are using in this timepiece is the Seiko 24 Jewel 24 Jewel AUTOMATIC movement.....
The BRONZE rota engraved with sundial markings as Stonehenge was used as a giant sundial among other things ! We used BRONZE for the rota, the crown as well as the bezel (on the "stainless steel & bronze" model) as part of the building of STONEHENGE took place in the "bronze age".
So for this model we have gone for a high quality crocodile leather strap with a very neat single action deployment buckle, which when you close it, the leather part of the strap will be on the inside up against your wrist, so that you don't end up with the metal part pushing against your wrist, which makes for a very comfortable wear. Very quick and easy to deploy, and very easy to adjust to your own wrist size, so nice !
As STONEHENGE was used as a giant sundial for timing the seasons by the cleaver use of the sun and it's position in the sky, we thought "what better than to use super-lume for the hands and hour marker, so we chose Swiss BGW9 super-lume in ice blue! .......very cool indeed !
We put our heart and soul into the design and creation of our watches, and spend a lot of time in the whole process, so that the STROND brand will go from strength to strength, making our brand stand out !
Firstly the concept & technical drawings for the new STROND range were made
Then we move onto the detailed technical drawings
The hands are modelled after the short sword of the Celtic era, with the seconds hand modelled after the Celtic brooch pin
For the Quality Assurance Check, the QA engineer will ensure that the dimensions of each individual component are 100% identical to the technical drawings and that all components pass the QA test, e.g. drop test and movement test. For the Final Quality Check, the final QC engineer will rigorously test all watches.
The first 450 pieces of the STROND HENGE are on a first backed basis, meaning the earlier you back us the lower the serial number you will receive.
For example.........The above serial for this piece is 001/450
As a way of saying thank you to all our backers, we are running a nice competition in which one lucky winner will win a piece of the Preseli bluestone taken from the Preseli hills used for making the dials for this timepiece and of course the inner circle of Stonehenge, which will makes a nice stand to rest your timepiece on and a very good talking point !
The actual piece of Preseli bluestone which the winner will win
This is one of the pieces cut from the large piece of stone which can be seen in the video further up on this page.... .....The winner will be randomly selected at the end of the campaign and will be notified. The piece of Preseli bluestone will be sent to the winner together with their timepiece, carefully packaged of course.
I have been an avid fan of horology from the age of about 10 years old and have been designing timepieces for a number of years, and have worked in joint collaborations and designs with a number of watchmakers. I was fortunate enough to have designed the Aston Martin tourbillon, designed as a timepiece to celebrate the release of the new Aston Martin Valkyrie super car and presented to the design director of Aston Martin himself at their headquarters in Gaydon, Warwickshire.
Passionate about watches, I had a keen interest in timepieces and at the age of just ten travelled half way across London on my own, taking 2 bus rides in order to purchase my first timepiece, and from that moment on, I became a bit of a collector of unique timepieces. So it goes without saying that later on in life I became interested in Horology and subsequently gravitated towards designing watches myself, and am now the driving force behind STROND
I live a short 40min drive away from Stonehenge, and have visited this historical site many times, and have never tired of seeing it on the many other occasions when I have had to drive past it, so creating this timepiece is something that I am very passionate about !
We stand firmly behind our products and are committed to giving a great service. Each STROND watch comes with a limited warranty of flaws in workmanship and materials for a period of 2 years after purchase.
