Details about the lawsuit
The lawsuit, which was filed on Monday and obtained by PEOPLE, also asserts that the artist, real name Brian Warner, started sexually assaulting the plaintiff when she was 16 years old and persisted through adulthood. In a press release, attorney Karen Barth Menzies said, "This lawsuit goes beyond the named predator and targets the record labels that packaged and profited from their artist's criminal behavior, and it is an indictment of the music industry for maintaining a culture that celebrates, protects, and enables sexual predators." The 54-year-old rocker allegedly requested her home address and phone number after saying he wanted to give her "promotional material." Doe claimed in the lawsuit, "While on the tour bus, Defendant Warner performed various acts of criminal sexual conduct upon Plaintiff, who was a virgin at the time. Warner threatened Plaintiff that, if she told anyone about the abuse, he would kill her and her family." According to the lawsuit, she was subjected to years of assault, intimidation, and grooming during which time she developed drug and alcohol addictions. She was still engaged in the music scene when she was 18 years old. At each event, Warner and his band brought her backstage and on the bus," the complaint stated. "During this period, Jane Doe encountered Warner virtually every day. Warner and his associates provided drugs to Jane Doe, and Warner continued to groom, harass, and sexually abuse her."
Jane Doe is now requesting a jury trial.More details
The new complaint was launched after Esmé Bianco, an actress, and Brian Warner reached a settlement on Friday on the sexual assault claim she made against him and his record company in 2021. Since then, two other lawsuits against Marilyn Manson have been dropped. Manson has also sued Wood and her girlfriend Ilma Gore for defamation, claiming that they made up charges of sexual assault. She said that if she went out about the abuse, he would "harm her" and her career. However, the actress' claims were labeled "provably false" by Manson's attorney in a statement received by PEOPLE at the time. Lastly, Manson has "vehemently denied any and all claims of sexual assault or abuse of anyone," according to his attorneys.Leave a Reply
