Apple Reality headset might replace the iPad Pro, but not its USB-C charging connector, according to a rumor

Photo Credit: MacRumors During WWDC 2023, Apple is rumored to make an attempt to convince the world to accept their Reality (headset). On its purportedly upcoming introduction, the first-generation VR/AR platform is reportedly backed to include its own version of Safari, FaceTime, Fitness, Siri, and more. The Cupertino giant appears to have created something for it, though, that could prove to be a significant barrier to acceptance. In the normally insightful Bloomberg contributor's response, Mark Gurman's worries that Apple would be jeopardizing the chances of its new Reality headset's success by pushing it into a WWDC 2023 launch with a sparsely developed xrOS environment (not to mention lucrative use-cases) seem to be mostly allayed. As a result, a potential purchaser of Apple Reality may be sure that they will have access to the mixed reality (MR) versions of a large number of essential tablet apps, ranging from Maps to Weather and every media app in between (such as Photos). In addition, it is currently predicted that xrOS will enable features like Apple TV, Fitness, Arcade, and perhaps FaceTime in VR when it launches. There might also be a brand-new service called "Wellness" to go along with them for activities like meditation. However, those who may aspire to quickly convert their entire Apple environment to MR may run into a potentially serious disadvantage even in the first generation. Like the Quest Pro or Vive XR Elite, the Reality headset is said to support USB type-C, but not for charging. According to reports, the (non-detachable) battery pack requires a completely new first-party cable with a proprietary connector. It also appears to include a locking mechanism to stop spontaneous disconnections when charging, though. However, those anticipating that their new iPhone and Reality headset may share a cable may find that this new rumor is unfavorable.
