Chrome To Provide Enhanced Dark Mode For Web Pages

You can "install" some web applications using the Chrome web browser so they can coexist with your other apps and games on your PC. They'll soon function in dark mode even better.
When the system is in dark mode, regular applications on Mac, Windows, and some Linux distributions can modify their colors and appearance, but websites and web apps don't have the same capabilities. They cannot specify a different background color for the splash screen that appears when you initially open the web app or a different title bar color for dark mode (other than just black). If the program includes a bright splash screen, using it in dark mode may make it even more blinding.
Thankfully, the Chrome development team is now focusing on improving support for dark mode in web apps. Web apps will be able to select any color they want for the title bar and splash screen backgrounds in both light and dark mode under the present proposal, with further choices perhaps coming in the future. It won't immediately solve the blinding issue when it arises because the online apps still need to specify the colors, but it's a simple change for anyone hosting a web app.
The functionality can be turned on in some Chrome versions using the feature flag #enable-experimental-web-platform-features, although for the time being it won't really matter because it also requires the web apps to define the colors. Google adds that neither Android tablets nor phones will be able to use the option. Due to Apple's restrictions on third-party web browsers, Chrome on iPhone and iPad does not initially permit installing web apps.
