Despite HP’s 1000-Nit Sure View Panel’s Brightness, the Picture Quality Is Poor

For many years, HP has offered laptops with Sure View displays and is a pioneer in the field of built-in privacy filters. You can prevent unwanted views from other individuals by limiting the viewing angle stability at the touch of a button. Since last year, HP has been supplying its fourth generation, which has very high brightness levels. There are a few things to bear in mind even though we just examined the EliteBook 865 G9's 16-inch model and measured nearly 900 nits. Even without turning on the Sure View function, the viewing angles are already quite constrained. The perceived picture quality decreases if you are not seated in the (quite narrow) sweet spot directly in front of the screen since brightness and contrast drop off quickly. Additionally, there is a continuous PWM flashing as well as a slightly grainy image impression on bright surfaces. HP View Panel Given that Sure View only functions in a considerably narrower range of brightness, the brightness control is the second problem. When Sure View is used, the maximum brightness is restricted to 150 cd/m2, which is hardly adequate in bright situations, as you can see. The usage of Sure View is somewhat constrained because it will primarily be utilized while traveling (in locations like public transportation or on the go). Additionally, there is a problem with dark locations because, without Sure View, you can only reduce the brightness to 100 nits, which may be excessively bright in some circumstances. It goes without saying that the built-in privacy filter can be useful, particularly if you work with sensitive data while frequently on the go. In order to determine whether you are satisfied with the arbitrary picture quality, we advise you to try the display. For the vast majority of users, the standard IPS screen will likely be the preferable option (especially on a 16-inch laptop). The HP ZBook Firefly 16 G9 workstation's younger sibling served as the panel's test subject, and it impressed us well with its reduced consumption figures. Even while the EliteBook 865 G9 works exceptionally well in other areas and has the potential to be one of the best business laptops, the Sure View panel has a negative impact on the overall rating of the device. More details on the EliteBook 865 G9, including specifications and benchmark results, may be found in our in-depth review
