Musk gave Twitter $44 billion in October 2022. He wanted to make it a successful business. To do this, Elon Musk has implemented a number of cost-cutting strategies. To save over $800 million in payroll costs, he fired about half of the company's global workers, for instance, and added the verification badge to the premium Twitter Blue membership service. Additionally, Twitter has stated that starting on February 9, API access would no longer be free and instead start charging for it. In November 2022, Tech Times claimed that additional prominent Twitter advertisers were planning to leave the Musk-led company. Less than a month after assuming office, Elon Musk has already lost half of the top 100 Twitter advertisers, according to the most recent analysis from the online nonprofit think tank Media Matters for America. According to the analysis, since 2020, these 50 corporations have spent about $2 billion on Twitter marketing. It is also important to note that in 2022, these significant marketers alone spent more than $750 million on advertising.
