Fitbit, the popular fitness tracking company, has announced that it will be shutting down some of its social features in an effort to refocus on its core mission of helping people achieve their health and fitness goals.
What's Changing
The social features that are being shut down include the ability to create or join groups, share achievements with friends, and compete against others in challenges. Fitbit's newsfeed and messaging features will also be removed.
Why the Changes?
According to Fitbit, the decision to shut down these social features was made based on feedback from users who indicated that they wanted the company to focus more on improving health and fitness tracking features, rather than social networking.

What's Next for Fitbit?
Despite the changes, Fitbit still plans to introduce new features that are aimed at helping people achieve their health and fitness goals. The company recently announced the launch of its new Premium Health Coaching service, which provides users with personalized coaching and guidance from certified health professionals.
How This Affects Users
If you're a Fitbit user who has been using the social features that are being shut down, you'll need to find alternative ways to connect with friends and stay motivated. However, if you primarily use Fitbit for tracking your health and fitness goals, you likely won't be impacted much by these changes.
