The move is aimed at providing a more seamless experience for users who have multiple devices and need access to their two-factor authentication codes. The new feature, which is available on both Android and iOS devices, allows users to enable account syncing on their primary device, and then access their codes on other devices. Users will need to sign in with their Google account on each device to access the synced codes.

Improved user experience with account syncing

The new feature is aimed at improving the user experience for those who rely on Google's Authenticator app for two-factor authentication. With account syncing, users no longer have to manually transfer their accounts and two-factor authentication codes to each new device they acquire. This makes it easier for users to access their codes and provides a more seamless experience.

Security concerns addressed

Google has addressed security concerns with the new feature, stating that the synced codes are encrypted and can only be accessed by the user. The codes are not stored in the cloud and cannot be accessed by Google. Additionally, users can choose to turn off the syncing feature at any time if they have security concerns.
