Today, a lot of people and organizations use ChatGPT to accomplish a lot of things. You can quickly find all the information on one page as opposed to surfing through other websites just to acquire information. Thanks to ChatGPT's ease of use and sophistication. For everyone, even businesses like Google, this simple method of conducting research with the aid of AI is exciting news. One of the major challenges to Google's supremacy as a search engine is ChatGPT. Google is currently putting forth a lot of effort to address this serious issue. All efforts, nevertheless, are only producing modest gains. especially after Microsoft made significant technological investments in OpenAI. You may already be aware of how intelligent OpenAI's chatbot is. Like a human, it can provide quick answers to difficult questions. Because of this, Google search is now viewed significantly differently by the online community. Online searches involve more than simply browsing different web pages. The fact that an AI can now perform human tasks clearly demonstrates how far technology has come. [caption id="attachment_153997" align="aligncenter" width="1200"]google chrome image Image credit : Logos-world[/caption] Google introduced Bard to take against ChatGPT. Many continue to question Google's dominance in the field of AI, though. Despite the fact that the corporation is among those that first developed artificial intelligence. This extends to the Mountain View, California, location of the business's headquarters. Some of these reservations were expressed in a statement by the group's engineer, Luke Sernau. This message is alleged to have been going around the company since April. Google's emphasis on competing with OpenAI worries Sernau. This rivalry has detrimental effects since it makes Google overlook another perilous rival.

Open-source Community Is Set To Give Tough Times To  Google

[caption id="attachment_170907" align="aligncenter" width="1280"]open-source Image credit : ZDNET[/caption] The open-source community happens to be this rival. Researchers who are not employed by any tech businesses make up the open-source community. They are developing AI technology more quickly than Google and OpenAI combined. Sernau suggests that rather than competing with OpenAI, Google should concentrate on working with the open-source community. He wrote: “We’ve done a lot of looking over our shoulders at OpenAI. Who will cross the next milestone? What will the next move be? But the uncomfortable truth is, we aren’t positioned to win this arms race, and neither is OpenAI. While we’ve been squabbling, a third faction has been quietly eating our lunch.
“I’m talking, of course, about open source. Plainly put, they are lapping us. Things we consider ‘major open problems’ are solved and in people’s hands today,” he said. [caption id="attachment_170911" align="aligncenter" width="1200"]OpenAI Image credit : Medium[/caption]   On a Pixel 6, he said, foundation models are operating at a record rate for open-source groups. They can spend an evening fine-tuning a customized AI on your laptop. Additionally, there is a whole website dedicated to art models that has no constraints at all, and text is not far behind. Sernau thinks OpenAI is not Google's main opponent. The open-source community is more like it. These groups are creating AI tools and models that are more adaptive, quicker, and less expensive. Unlike the technology that Google and other IT companies produce, they can easily adapt to client requirements. “While our models still hold a slight edge in terms of quality, the gap is closing astonishingly quickly. Open-source models are faster, more customizable, more private, and pound-for-pound more capable,” Sernau argued. “We have no secret sauce. Our best hope is to learn from and collaborate with what others are doing outside Google.” In addition, he cautioned Google against any mistakes they might make now. claiming that the business might experience significant future commercial ramifications. [caption id="attachment_170913" align="aligncenter" width="1200"]Bard AI Image credit : The Scotsman[/caption]   He continued by saying that people are not prepared to pay for an AI model when it is available elsewhere for free. Therefore, it is crucial to think about where the true value is. Large models created by large corporations are really slowing down the development of AI. The models that we can immediately improve upon are the greatest, he claimed. Also read : How Mastodon, an alternative to Twitter has gained popularity since Elon Musk’s acquisition? Sernau concluded by pointing out that Google's emphasis on competing with OpenAI might be incorrect. Long-term, it can result in the company's demise. The open-source community is creating AI models more quickly and easily. They pose a genuine threat only based on this. There are closed policies at both Google and OpenAI.
“The modern internet runs on open source for a reason. Open source has some significant advantages that we cannot replicate, he concluded.”
