This is what happened to actor Jeremy Renner in January when his PistenBully snowcat rolled on top of him while he was attempting to pull a family member's car out of a snow bank near his home in Washoe County, Nevada. Renner is now speaking publicly for the first time about that near-fatal moment in an interview with ABC's Diane Sawyer, which includes a harrowing recording of the 911 call made just moments after the incident. “I’d do it again,” Renner tells Sawyer. “Because it was going right at my nephew.” When Renner fired up his snowcat to try to rescue a vehicle stuck on a private, unplowed road in the Nevada mountains, the terrifying incident occurred. Renner has previously shared photos of his snowcat on Instagram, showing the steep road and deep snow that leads up to his Nevada home. When the actor attempted to return to the cockpit, he was dragged beneath the treads of the PistenBully, a heavy-duty machine weighing over 15,000 pounds used to groom ski runs. After months of rehabilitation, Renner retains an admirably upbeat attitude toward the tragedy that almost killed him. "I've lost a lot of flesh and bone in this experience," he told Diane Sawyer, "but I've been refueled and refilled with love, and titanium."
