How to leave or mute group texting in Android and iOS is covered in this post. Unless otherwise stated, instructions apply to regular iOS 12/Android 8 and higher. On an Android device, you can choose to mute notifications but you cannot quit a group text without asking to be removed. The Android stock messages app can be used by following these instructions. The procedure for exiting a group SMS may alter if your Android phone utilizes a different messaging program, such as Google Messages or Samsung Messages.
  • Get to the group text by navigating.
  • Please press the three vertical dots.
  • To silence the conversation, press the bell.

The conversations you missed will then be filled with the messages you received. Also read: Sunbird Is The Much-Anticipated iMessage For Android App

You have a few choices for muzzling annoying group texting if you have an iPhone.

Option 1: Disable Alerts

  • Muting group text notifications is the first option available on iOS:
  • To mute a group text, open it.
  • Tap the contacts group at the top of the screen.
  • The Information button can be found below the group; simply tap it.
Three iOS displays with the group icon at the top, the info icon, and the toggle to turn off alerts Toggle the Hide Alerts and switch to the On position at the bottom by scrolling down. You won't receive a notification (and the associated text sound) each time someone in the group text sends a new message if you choose to Disable Alerts (or Do Not Disturb in iOS 11 or before). Open the group text to see the thread's most recent messages. Distractions are reduced using this technique. Option 2: Use iOS to send a group text.

Even if you're using the Messages app on your iPhone, it's not always possible to truly end the discussion. In order to leave a group text on iOS, the following conditions must exist: You need to be in a conversation within iMessage as opposed to a regular group text message. You will be in a conventional group message and won't have the ability to send a group text using Messages if some of the group chat participants use Android phones or other apps rather than iOS's Messages app. A group text must contain at least four participants. The reasoning behind this is that, if a three-person conversation were to end, it would no longer be a group text but just a straightforward text exchange between two individuals. In any event, the option to Quit this Conversation is greyed out if there are three people in your iMessage conversation.
  • If you have iOS and can send group texts, adhere to these steps:
  • Launch the iMessage group you want to leave.
  • After tapping the group at the top, select Information.
  • Down the page, tap Quit this discussion.
  • To make your choice official, tap Exit this Conversation.
