Hyenas, an extraction shooter from Creative Assembly, will have a playable alpha tomorrow.

Image Credit: Twitter Creative Assembly, the team behind Total War and Alien Isolation, has been slaving away on Hyenas for a while. It's a PvPvE extraction shooter that takes place in a world where the affluent have relocated to Mars (yay!) and have left the rest of humanity to battle to death on a harsh planet (goddamnit). Hero-Ki, a cosplayer, was unveiled as a new playable character at today's Future Games Expo. More significantly, he has the ability to change into one of his enemies. He will be among the playable characters in the next Hyenas alpha test, which is reportedly the biggest one yet. You can join up here, and it gives you a substantial 10 days to put the game through its paces. Given Creative Assembly's reputation, it's certainly worth a chance when it starts tomorrow. Further details on Hero-Ki are provided below: Hiro-Ki can use his penchant for disguise to evade threats and take advantage of the environment in HYENAS because only the keenest-eyed rival will be able to spot the clues that reveal him as an imposter. Hiro-Ki is armed with a specially modified camera to capture a target's likeness and cosplay as them. Back in September, Mollie saw a 20-minute trailer for Hyenas and wasn't too fond of the game's "metacringe" (it does sound cringey). Nevertheless, if you could handle Borderlands, you'll definitely be able to handle this one too, especially if you're a lover of Sega, the game's publisher, whose heritage is heavily present. In fact, you can even break into doors using the game's ancient Mega Drives. A few other noteworthy Hyenas facts include the competition between five "raiding teams" to find and break into safes while also having to deal with AI adversaries in addition to other human players. Zero-g zones exist, some of which may be toggled on and off, which makes Lawbreakers come to mind.
