In an interview, Mark Zuckerberg stated that he missed the new way of interacting with people about new content on social networks. They are using the Feeds feature in social networking services rather than watching media shared by friends and family whom they follow. Even though the users are viewing and commenting on the posts shared by their friends in the feeds, there is a total shift in their approach to them. Zuckerberg stated, “social networking trend has, by and large, shifted to you using your feed to discover content, you find things that are interesting, you send them to your friends in messages and you interact there.” “So in that world, it is somewhat less important who produces the content that you’re finding, you just want the best content.” Mark Zuckerberg TikTok’s popularity is attributed to its algorithms, compelling people to watch videos while keeping in mind their likes and dislikes based on their viewing history. The rise has posed a great threat to FB as its users are decreasing in North America with losing stock prices to 56% this year. In the interview, Zuckerberg stated that TikTok is an effective competitor and stated, “somewhat slow to this because it didn’t fit my pattern of a social thing, it felt more like a shorter version of YouTube to me.” Meta CEO believes that they have to develop AI to suggest a host of material besides videos like photos, messages, etc. He added, “Sometimes I want to watch specific videos, but a lot of the time I just want the best stuff.” Meta launched the Quest Pro VR headset for virtual reality aficionados this week but will cost $1500 for new users.
