In addition to competing against friends online, players can compete in the title's numerous minigames. Nintendo's Switch Online service will soon feature one of the most played Pokémon games ever. On April 12, the Switch Online Expansion Pack will include Pokémon Stadium, the first 3D installment in the Pokémon franchise. Pokémon Stadium pits the titular Pokémon against one another in a 3D arena with fully animated attacks. The first 151 Pokémon from Pokémon Red and Blue are represented on the roster. In Pokémon Stadium, users can compete against up to four friends in a variety of goofy sports like "Run, Rattata, Run" and "Clefairy Says." The whole single-player experience is also available. In Stadium Mode, players can participate in four cups or take on the Gym Leader Castle, where they must fight each of the first eight gym leaders in turn. The ability to transfer Pokémon obtained from Gameboy games was a crucial component of the original Nintendo 64 game (Red and Blue). It is somewhat disappointing that Switch Online does not offer such feature. As previously stated, the only way to play Pokémon Stadium (or any other Nintendo 64 game) is through the Expansion Pack add-on for the Switch Online service. It will join the other 22 N64 titles that are playable with the add-on.
