Samsung cuts Sony out of S23: Sunny Optical joins the Galaxy S23 Ultra camera providers

A recent source claims that Sunny Optical, a Chinese manufacturer, will supply two cameras for the Samsung Galaxy S23 Ultra. Samsung has no room for anything from Sony because the Galaxy S23 and Galaxy S23+ lens providers are already locked up. The back of the Galaxy S23 Ultra will feature a quad-camera configuration. Two camera modules from Sunny Optical, a Chinese business that has previously given lenses to Samsung as well as competitors like Huawei and Vivo, will be found on the Galaxy S23 Ultra. According to a rumor by The Elec, Sunny Optical will build the S23 Ultra's 10 MP folding zoom telephoto camera and 12 MP ultra-wide camera, with Samsung Electro-Mechanics and NAMUGA filling in the gaps. Two more Korean companies, NAMUGA and Power Logics, have been brought in to supply the S23 Ultra's selfie camera, which was initially listed as having a 12 MP sensor but was later downgraded to a 10 MP one. It appears Samsung has kept the camera hardware for the upcoming Galaxy S23 series a mostly Korean affair with some assistance coming from the Chinese company Sunny Optical. The Galaxy S23 and Galaxy S23+ are said to have cameras supplied by Samsung Electro-Mechanics, Power Logics, PARTRON, and CammSys (also based in South Korea). With the Xperia maker already providing cameras for numerous Galaxy S models, including the Galaxy S22 series, this effectively eliminates the Japanese tech giant Sony from the picture.
