Shania Twain says she feels 'liberated' after flaunting her naked body in late 50s

Shania Twain claims that flaunting her "new body" has been "liberating" as she gets older. The 57-year-old was open about how removing her top for the "Waking Up Dreaming" cover helped her overcome long-standing body image concerns. Twain said in an interview with People on Wednesday, "This is me expressing my truth. I’m comfortable in my own skin, and this is the way I am sharing that confidence," saying that anything is "fashionable” if it’s worn with “confidence.” She continued, "I am a woman in my late 50s, and I don’t need to hide behind the clothes. I can’t even tell you how good it felt to do nude shooting. I was just so unashamed of my new body, you know, as a woman that is well into my menopause. I’m not even emotional about it; I just feel okay about it.” Furthermore, Twain posed for the cover image of her latest single while wearing a cowboy hat and a pair of vibrant pointy-toe boots, concealing her naked chest with her arms. Besides, the country-pop icon is no stranger to forging her own path in the music industry, despite the fact that the image upset some fans. She added, "But, I was a lot firmer then, so as I grew older, I started feeling a different pressure of, ‘Well, your breasts are not as plump as they used to be. Your skin is not as tight as it used to be. Maybe you should start covering it up a little bit more.'” [caption id="attachment_74582" align="aligncenter" width="1280"]Shania Twain Jason Kempin/Getty Images for ACM[/caption]

What's more

Shania Twain vowed not to "regress" to her timid self after she noticed her "courage" was "dulling." She said, "I am embracing my body as it changes, as I should have from my childhood to my teens, as I should be from my taut, 20s and 30-year-old self, to my menopausal body. I’m not going to be shy about it. I want to be courageous about it, and I want to share that courage in the artwork that I am directing.” On another note, at the People's Choice Awards, Twain kept her word to herself by walking the red carpet in a seductive, semi-sheer, cheetah-print gown. The outfit, which was a tribute to her classic appearance from the 1998 music video for "That Don't Impress Me Much," featured a hood, a black velvet skirt, sheer sleeves, and a midsection panel that displayed her firm abs.
