Sony Playstation 5 Review: The Next-Gen Game Changer

At launch, the PS5 had a lot to live up to, especially in light of the PS4's resounding success the generation before. Thankfully, Sony's next-generation platform blew away its predecessor in every aspect imaginable. With haptic feedback and adjustable triggers, the new DualSense controller for the PS5 is nothing short of a revelation. It is an amazingly ingenious piece of technology. The PS5 advances a generation above the PS4 thanks to a new user interface, quick SSD-fueled load times, immersive 3D audio, and immensely potent hardware. For all of these reasons, as well as additional ones, it can be difficult to stop playing on the PS5. The console's wing-like faceplates and hefty design are partly to blame for how ugly it is. The PS5's enormous size guarantees that it is silent and maintains an appropriate level of cooling, which is a positive. More importantly, we haven't encountered any significant hardware problems like hard crashes or data corruption since launch. Support for the finest 120Hz TVs with HDMI 2.1 is one area where the PS5 has lagged behind. The number of games that support 120 frames per second is nevertheless gradually increasing and includes popular first- and third-party titles like Horizon Forbidden West, Fortnite, and Ghostwire Tokyo. The inclusion of VRR functionality to PS5 is also wonderful. On TVs that support it, VRR (variable refresh rate) keeps the action moving smoothly. The PS5 VRR feature enables the console to maintain high framerates with little to no performance impact and no screen tearing. It's a fantastic feature that we're thrilled to have on the PS5. In both new and old games, you may still take advantage of incredibly quick load times, improved speed, and higher levels of visual fidelity. The fundamental components of the user experience have been reimagined by Sony, from a more straightforward setup to a thoughtful user interface, with a few nice bonuses on top. While PS Plus Extra and Premium subscribers have access to an extra Game Catalog and Classics Catalog, PS Plus Essential members can immediately play a hand-picked selection of titles. Additionally, backward compatibility guarantees that your old library of the top PS4 titles will function right away. In the end, we have a platform that is impressive, which is ultimately bolstered by the PlayStation 5's appealing lineup of exclusive games that keeps expanding.
