These Yule Log videos will make you feel like a true gamer over the holidays

Sometimes you just want to give your home a cozy holiday feel so you can curl up next to a fire. If you don't have a fireplace, though, that mission can be hard. This is where videos of yule logs come in. You can go to YouTube and find many videos of cozy yule logs that will make you feel like you're there. You can choose from a number of traditional yule logs, but what if you're a gamer? Maybe you won't be happy with anything less than a cool fire with a gaming theme that will make your younger cousins think you're very cool and make the rest of your family wonder what you're doing with your life. If that sounds like you, here are six great games to play this holiday weekend. AVGN's list of games for Christmas Let's start with a tried-and-true method. If you want to play a game that is fun and not too hard, try the blocky world of Minecraft. This 2016 YouTube video lets you watch a fire burn in a holiday-themed Minecraft cabin for two hours. Even though it doesn't have the realistic graphics of The Last of Us Part II and plays the same fire sound effect every few seconds, this will do if you want a gaming-themed Christmas tree that most people will recognize. It's also official—the title says so. Now, I don't know if you've ever heard of Marvel, but it's a cool comic book universe that has led to movies and video games. The most recent Marvel game, Marvel's Midnight Suns, even had its own Yule Log almost a year before it came out. The official name of the video is Charlie the Yule Dog, so I don't think I need to try too hard to make this funny after that pun. I just want to say that it's nice that a game gives a universe of characters that are just starting out a chance to shine.

Ho Ho Holiday: Little Inferno

You might be thinking, "Wait, that's a trailer, not a video of a yule log, you crazy person!" Well, I just want to keep you thinking. We've made everything into a game, from learning a language to real geese, so of course we've found a way to make yule logs into a game, too. If your least favorite thing about these videos is that you can't do anything with them, then the Ho Ho Holiday expansion for Little Inferno is for you. Little Inferno is a funny, satirical indie game that is all about burning things. This expansion, which came out in November, gives you over 20 more toys to burn. I think this is a yule log because it makes you feel like you're holding one.

Yule Log for the House of Hades

This is not a funny Christmas log. I'm here to tell you that Hades is a good game with a great video of a yule log. Play Hades and this soothing 12-hour yule log. Watch the trailer for Hades II while you're at it, and then go back to playing Hades. Why do you keep staying? Hades is one of the best games ever made, so you should play it.

The Yule Log from Sonic the Hedgehog 2

This year, Paramount Pictures put out a Sonic the Hedgehog 2 Yule Log before the movie came out, and it's a pretty good one. As an olive branch to Sonic fans after my harsh review of Sonic Frontiers earlier this year, I'm giving them this one. I hope that this gift gives you peace during the holidays. Even so, this is a nice Christmas tree, especially if people around you know who Sonic is. While you watch this, cook some chili dogs over an open flame.
