On another note, Ross has long been outspoken about her love of her hair as the founder and CEO of the haircare business Pattern Beauty. She told PEOPLE that "society tells me, as a Black woman, that my identity is wrapped up in my hair," even though she freely acknowledges that as a teenager she struggled to develop a relationship with her hair. And although Ross admitted that she now takes great "pride" in her curls, she is aware that she is "more than my hair." The businesswoman is aware that her hair is simply an "expression of who I am" and what makes her feel attractive, whether she is sporting a wash-and-go, a rich statement haircut, or the au naturale damp look in Jamaica.
