What Do Alexa's Light Colors Mean?

The ring light on your Amazon Echo speaker has several tones, each with a distinct significance. Given the vast array of light modes available, it's easy to get confused by what Alexa is trying to tell you. All in all, what do each of the eight different types of lights on your Echo represent, and how do you turn them off?

Green Light: A new call is coming in

Your Echo speaker indicates that you are receiving a call if it is blazing green. With the Alexa smartphone app, other Echo owners may make decisions directly with their speakers. Simply accept or reject the Alexa app's approach to stop this from happening.

Yellow Signal: Unread Messages

Your Echo speaker will indicate that you have an unread notification on the Alexa app when it starts to streak yellow. Not to mention delivery updates, missed calls, texts, and Amazon shopping alerts can all be included in these notifications. Please ignore the warning and clear your notifications on the Alexa app to stop the yellow light from glowing. Also Read: iPod-like button which is a great smart home controller

Red Signal: Alexa Is Not Connected

An intense red light indicates that Alexa is not listening to you. She won't respond no matter what wake word you say. Using the "line through a circle" button on your speaker, you can activate this feature. Press a similar button again to deactivate it.

Blue Light: Setting up, Processing, or Response

Spinning Blue Light: If the blue and dark blue ring light on your Echo is spinning, it means that your speaker is starting up again after being disconnected from its power source. Normally, this light will appear for ten or twenty seconds, and then it will go away once Alexa is ready. When Alexa is installing a new firmware update, which can take longer than a standard restart, the spinning blue light might also appear. Try disconnecting and replugging the device to initiate a reset in the unlikely event that the spinning blue light persists. In the unlikely event that the problem persists, your Alexa might be defective and need to be replaced. Solid Dark Blue Light: Your Echo's ring light will turn solid dark blue when you use your wake phrase. It indicates that Alexa has received your command and is certain the solicitation will be fulfilled. Ebbing Blue Light: The solid blue light will turn into an ebbing blue light at your spoken demand. This suggests that Alexa is responding to your query.

Purple Light: Do Not Disturb Mode

If you activate the Do Not Disturb mode, a purple light will briefly appear and then disappear on your Echo device. You can enable this mode either through the Alexa app or by asking Alexa to turn on the feature using your voice.

Orange Light: Setup Mode

Whereas, a flickering orange light is an indication that your speaker is in setup mode. You'll see this when you first connect your speaker to the Alexa app or whenever you re-register your speaker. It will  disappear once the setup is complete.

White Light: Volume Control

When you adjust the volume level on your Echo speaker, a gradual white light will appear. It will be solid at full volume and only partially visible at low volume. This applies whether you manually change the volume via the speaker buttons or ask Alexa to do so with a voice command. Hope the information above will help to better understand and respond to Alexa's signals
