Huish Outdoors has teamed up with Apple to create the Oceanic+ app, designed to transform the Apple Watch Ultra into a diving computer. The app features a depth gauge and water temperature sensors that allow the device to reach depths of up to 40 meters. The Apple Watch Ultra is already swim-proof with a resistance rating of 100 meters, and the Oceanic+ app builds on this functionality to create an accessible, shareable diving experience. The free-to-download app offers standard dive functions such as depth tracking, timers, and logging. Users can access the full range of features, including decompression tracking, tissue loading, location planning, and an unlimited logbook, by subscribing to Oceanic+ for AUD$15.99 per month or AUD$129.99 per year. A family sharing option is also available for AUD$189.99 per year, providing access for up to five users. The Oceanic+ app is designed to be intuitive, providing clear and timely information to divers without requiring mental calculations or complicated button clicks. The app incorporates dive conditions such as tides, water temperature, visibility, and currents into the dive planner. Users can enter their surface time, depth, and gas into the dive planner, and Oceanic+ will compute their No Deco (no-decompression) time, a measurement used to establish a time restriction for a diver at a specific depth. Additional details are available in the Oceanic+ iPhone app summary, including graphs showing depth, temperature, and no-decompression limit, as well as a map of the entry and exit points. The app takes advantage of haptic feedback, allowing divers to feel notifications underwater, even through a wetsuit that's 7 millimeters thick. The app leverages Apple Watch Complications, giving divers quick access to critical information and tools at a glance. Apple Watch Series 8, SE, And Ultra Incorporating the haptic feedback designed for the Apple Watch Ultra has made the diving experience more personal, providing gentle nudges to guide divers. The app is intended to increase the number of people in the water, allowing more people to enjoy spending time in the water and developing a greater respect for nature. The Oceanic+ app is a significant innovation in the dive industry, transforming a device designed for a healthy life into a device made for diving. With its user-friendly features and haptic feedback, the app provides clear and timely information to divers, making diving more accessible and shareable for everyone.
