Boston Dynamics’ Festive Robot Video Has a Surprise Ending

Robotic experts Spot, a robotic quadruped that resembles a dog, is featured in a holiday film posted by Boston Dynamics. In a statement that is included with the 90-second comedy, the robotics team wishes viewers a happy holiday season and adds, "Spot was teleoperated by expert operators, don't do this at home." In the footage, Spot 1 can be seen holding a huge red bow that it obviously intends to dangle from the top of the Christmas tree. Spot 1 cannot reach that height, even when fully stretched and utilizing its robotic arm. Spot 2 and Spot 3 enter the scene and arrange themselves into a platform that Spot 1 climb. Then Spots 2 and 3 spread their legs to the furthest extent, enabling Spot 1 to reach the tree's peak. The robot then gently positions the bow at the top of the tree after grabbing it with its arm.
