California girl, 18, stabbed multiple times before being mowed down by 22-yr-old on-again, off-again BF

A teenage girl's purported murder by a man with whom she had an on-again, off-again connection horrified the family. According to reports, 22-year-old Devian Lewis stabbed Saraiah Acosta before running her over with a car on February 1. When Rancho Cordova Police Department officers responded to a complaint and went to an address on Ramsgate Way in the City of Rancho Cordova, they discovered the 18-year-old with several stab wounds. The Sun stated that despite their best attempts, Acosta could not be saved and was pronounced dead at the site. In a media release, the Rancho Cordova Police Department and Sacramento County Sheriff's Office stated, “Homicide Detectives and Crime Scene Investigators responded to the scene a short time later, interviewed witnesses, and gathered evidence. Suspect arrested after a chase

After being pursued by the California Highway Patrol (CHP) and other law enforcement personnel "through Sacramento southbound on Highway 99," the suspect was apprehended. According to the press announcement, "deputies discovered LEWIS was armed during the pursuit. The Elk Grove Police Department jumped up to help, and LEWIS ultimately made his way into Elk Grove after exiting on Cosumnes River Boulevard heading west. In the City of Elk Grove, where he was apprehended, the chase came to an end due to an officer-involved shooting. Lewis was reportedly shot and is currently being treated in a hospital. He has not yet had any charges made public. "The principal agency looking into the Rancho Cordova homicide is the Sacramento County Sheriff's Office. The officer-involved shooting will be looked into by the Elk Grove Police Department and the Sacramento County District Attorney's Office because it took place inside Elk Grove's city limits, according to the news release.
